Berwick’s got talent

During my seven years living in Berwick I’ve been continually impressed by the resourcefulness and ‘get up and go’ attitude of its people, particularly the creative community.

Music, theatre, fine arts, sculpture, singing, photography, writing — all these and more are to be found without needing to look too hard.

The depth of talent in town really struck me at an impromptu party recently thrown by a neighbour at which nearly everyone was a ‘creative’ of one sort or another — professional and amateur.

And that made me think: how about putting something together that would give a window into the world of some of the local stars who bring the zing into our town and the surrounding area?

A few years ago I co-wrote and published two coffee-table books featuring some of the best-known people from the North East and Scotland — many of them actors, musicians and writers. Maybe something hyper-local but along those lines?

Hence this Berwick & Beyond website. It’s only the start but the team behind the site would like it to be a ‘go to’ local outlet featuring people in the arts world around here. Berwick’s got talent. Let’s show it.
